It’s ideal, as the vocabulary and grammar used in the example sentences from Kanji Look and Learn pair really well with Genki. I’d suggestion getting through Genki Ch 6 (front and back half, and workbook), and then start Kanji Look and Learn. You can obviously start them at the same time, but getting through the first 6 chapters of genki as quickly as possible unlocks a lot of basic understanding to start reading basic Japanese sentences. Whereas before that, you’ll just waste a lot of time being confused about really basic patterns.
I used Genki I and II. They are brill. If its by the same people/team then I’d assume it’ll be decent.
But i havent seen that particular book…
The main Genki textbook and workbook will teach grammar and give you vocabulary plus 317 kanji.
The Look and Learn series give you 520 kanji but doesn’t teach grammar, although it will use Japanese throughout.
The kanji in the L&L series don’t quite match up with the main textbooks, which is kind of a shame.
I’d get the main textbooks and workbook if you don’t already have something for grammar.
IMO, pretty useless IF you plan to use Genki 1/2, since those have most of the kanji in the book anyway. Otherwise its pretty good
