Apologies if this has been asked.
My Permanent Residency card is supposed to be renewed this June. For those who have renewed their PR cards, I have a couple of questions. What documents did you need to bring, from the Prefectural Hall or so on, and what is the timeframe you can renew a PR card in? I’m hoping to get it done a few months before the expiry, but wonder if there are any restrictions.
Thank you!

> Application period
> From two months before the expiration date of the current residence card to the expiration date
You will receive a postcard from the immigration service when it’s time to renew your residency card. Just take that postcard along with the required photo to the immigration office and they will issue you a new card. You don’t need any other documents because you already have PR. You’re just renewing your residency card.
I’ve always wondered, what happens if the card lapses?
Do they revoke PR and deportation? Or can you still get a new card after and it’s just a headache for everyone
