Gov’t subsidies for moving to countryside

Just curious if American citizens can move directly to the countryside from the US and buy one of the empty houses that I’ve heard are selling inexpensively. Also curious if the Japanese gov’t would give us relocation bonuses. Never lived in Japan before, but speak Japanese and considering this option. Thanks

  1. You can buy a house, you can’t just get a non-tourist visa *because* you bought a house though. There are prefectural and township subsidies in certain places, but unless you’re employed in japan or married a national you’re not going to be able to live there because you bought property.

  2. I’m curious, what country gives a foreign national a relocation bonus? Is that a thing?

  3. It just sounds like a colonisation plan. Do you honestly think in your right mind that Japanese gov’t would give US citizens relocation bonuses to get it’s countryside being taken over by US citizens?

How long before they turn it into a cesspool like the one they left behind them?

  4. I heard the reason they sell them so cheaply is because the houses need maintenance and the maintenance cost will be roughly the price of what you would pay if the house was already in good condition. Plus wouldn’t these cheap houses be in ghost towns?

  5. Ah I guess one of those copypasta articles got shared in some communities again?

Have you actually looked into those houses? Surely you know where they are and what they actually are, right?

  6. The problem is

    Getting a visa

    Getting a job

Living without pretty much any local stores.

    Possibly antiquated utilities

    Possibly no interest access

You’ll pay more repairing and maintaining the ancient house than just buying one a bit closer to a city.

All your neighbors are dead, dying, or moving as soon as they can.
