tattoo-friendly onsen thread

Seems like the most recent thread for this was 8 months ago, so I was hoping to collect a recent list of tattoo-friendly onsens. In particular, I am looking for one in Osaka and Fukuoka. My tattoos are too big to cover with the paint or patch-ons.

Confirmed in Arima (outside of Kobe): [https://arimaspa-kingin.jp/](https://arimaspa-kingin.jp/)

Confirmed in Matsuyama, the famous Dogo Onsen [https://dogo.jp/en/](https://dogo.jp/en/)

  1. If you want a genuine unique experience try Takegawara Onsen in Beppu. (Kyushu)

It’s really really old, so you get to soak up a bit of history.

Pretty sure it’s tattoo friendly because some yakusa looking guys from the local Red light district popped in when I was there.

Although it might only be acceptable for them.

  2. A friend of mine has a sleeve and no-one has ever said anything to him about it, except to ask about the artwork etc. visits many onsens.

  3. Honestly, pretty much anywhere. I’d imagine the higher the prestige of the accommodation, the higher the chance of being said something. Most places seem fine.

  4. My approach; if there is no sign in the front entrance of the onsen then I enter. If they want to ask me to leave once I’m naked, they can. However they never do.

It’s one of those things that people only care about because they think other people care about it. But in reality, no-one actually cares about it.
