Social Apartment Komae and Mitaka

Hello, so I’ll be moving to Tokyo in March and I was looking into staying at a sharehouse because I don’t have many friends in Tokyo and it sounds like a good way to make connections. I’ve heard that Social Apartment sharehouses tend to be a bit more upper-end, so probably makes for a better experience than the typical sharehouse horror story. This might be a bad idea, but I would prefer to settle on a place before I arrive in Tokyo so that I can just lock things in ahead of time. (Or would the general advice be to wait until I’m actually in Tokyo and go to viewings?)

I have landed at two properties that I’m interested in – the [Komae one](https://www.social-apartment.com/eng/builds/tokyo/komae-shi/view/23) and the [Mitaka one](https://www.social-apartment.com/eng/builds/tokyo/mitaka-shi/view/20). I wouldn’t say I’m a complete clean freak but I like things to be clean, so I’m leaning toward a place with a private bathroom, such as the Komae property, but the location of the Mitaka property is super ideal and close to Inokashira Park which is one of my favourite places to go. If the cleaner comes often enough then maybe sharing a bathroom won’t be so bad? Other things that are important to me are being close to nature, a supermarket, and easy access to Shinjuku station. Has anyone here lived in either the Komae or Mitaka location and has their two cents to offer? Thanks in advance!

  1. Komae is far from things and a very suburban, sleepy area. I’d pick Mitaka simply because it provides easy access to Shinjuku/Tokyo Stations via the Chuo Line, and Shibuya via the Inokashira Line at Kichijoji Station, which is a quick bike ride from Mitaka.
