Windows 11 IME problems

I really don’t know where else to ask this. I recently bought a new laptop in japan (japanese keyboard), and while the katakana/hiragana/romaji button works great for switching the input TO hiragana, it refuses to switch back when i do alt+kana button. The setting is turned on in the options menu, and I even tried switching to the previous version of IME. Neither the left or right alt button seems to work.

I’ve considered restoring the system because its so annoying to click in the taskbar every time I want to switch back. Has anyone else encountered this?

  1. Turn the IME off with 半角/全角 when you want to type in English. Turn it on with that key again, or if your laptop supports it, the ひらがな key.

  2. There are some serious tutorials on how to use IMEs for every OS on YouTube and they are well worth your time.

You have a Japanese keyboard which means you do not need a modifier key to switch back and forth between English and Japanese. People can type a serious word count speeds with proper Japanese keyboards in miced language document.

I would kill to have all my computer have proper Japanese keyboards
