I have a small question, to which I can’t seem to find a specific answer. How long should the validity on my Japanese residence card be if I intend to make a short (10 day) trip to the US? I am not a US citizen or green card holder, but (obviously) I have a valid B1/B2 multiple entry visa. I will have 3 months of validity on my residence card after the scheduled date of re-entering Japan. Will that be enough for both the Japanese and US immigration officers?

This is the wrong sub for ESTA questions. You can leave and come back to Japan on most visa permits. You need to check with immigration about notification requirements and time limits on your particular JP visa.
