Does anybody know if it is possible to get a 3rd COVID vaccine shot in Japan after being vaccinated with two doses of Sinovac (or Sinopharm)? I called a few numbers and it seems like the answer might depend on the ward. I know I can start from zero but this is not what I am asking here. Would it be possible to go to a different ward than my residence’s to get the shot? Thanks.

This MLHW page suggest that you can’t: [https://www.cov19-vaccine.mhlw.go.jp/qa/0106.html](https://www.cov19-vaccine.mhlw.go.jp/qa/0106.html)
But it probably wouldn’t hurt to ask your ward/city office.

You need a vaccination voucher, which is issue by the ward/city you have residence in, to get a shot. You can get a shot outside of your residence ward (most vaccination nowadays don’t care about your residence anymore), but you still require the voucher.
