If (When) China decides to take Taiwan, this island is perfectly situated to be a staging ground for an invasion force. As it stands, it is almost completely unprotected.
They can live with a small base of 600 JSDF today or 10,000 Chinese troops next year. That’s the real-world choice here.

Everytime I hear this argument I just die a little inside. “Hey, I don’t want a gun at home because that might make the burglar more likely to rob me.”
Enough. Okinawa is a hard target. Military or not. It would see conflict DAY ONE if anything went down. I love Okinawa but that is the way it is in this climate.
