Anyone knows the name of this plug? One air conditioner at my place use this, all the other are the usual ones I’d like to buy a smart wifi plug to schedule/control it via phone.
Amazon makes plugs that work with alexa. Just look up smart plug on amazon and you’ll see the 3 prong ones that you can connect to the alexa app.
why not use a smart remote? you can then even control temperature and properly turning it on/off . instead of shutting electricity. things like switch bot hub can do that. you can then also control TV and numerous other things
That’s a 200V outlet. I doubt you’ll find a 200V smart plug. You probably need a smart remote adapter instead.
If your AC is like almost every other unit in Japan, using a smart plug won’t do what you want. All that will do is switch the power on to the unit, but usually these default to “off” once they receive power. They need to receive the IR signal from the remote to actually start operating.
Turning the power on using a smart plug, even if you could find one that accepts the 200V coming from an A/C outlet, won’t do anything because the Aircon defaults to off when first plugged in. So you’d be turning off and on power to a unit that would never actually start up by itself. Smart remote that blasts IR signal is the way to go.
Nature Remo is the smart IR controller system I use to control my AC, lights etc in my house here. Works with any device that can be controlled by a traditional infrared remote.
Further to others’ excellent responses, I don’t know about your specific aircon, but all of ours just “turn off” if the power is interrupted* and restored.
i.e. if you’re expecting to be able to switch your aircon on/off by simply flipping the power, that approach is probably not going to work.
Use the smart remote option.
*As quite a few apartments only have 20amp breakers, this might be to help prevent overload/break/reset loops if someone’s not around.
