I’d take a raise
At least deflation was helpful, but VAT went from 3% to 10% in the time period.
Next to the very strict business cultures, lack of remote work this is the main reasom why I would never want to work for a japanese business. Would basically earn half of what I do now.
It’s not going to make up for the rise in the cost of living unless it’s at least 20%, which is next to impossible.
I can imagine an army of buchos sucking their teeth and saying “chotto muzukashii” in unison…
