Yoga or Volleyball Suggestion?

I feel like I need to exercise because ever since coming here, I’ve been walking 3x more than I usually did back home so my body is always sore + my stamina’s pretty shit lol I’d like to get into Yoga or Volleyball team (casual practices?), if you have any suggestion or know where I should look for information please let me know!

(I can’t speak Japanese yet & I prefer a practice place around Minato or anywhere in Yamanote line between Shinjuku-Tamachi)

  1. If you are an Indian or interested in Indian culture, then there are several religious groups that do Yoga.

  2. Minato-ku sports center runs volleyball pickup games after a long warmup session on Wednesday starting at 6 I believe. Mostly Japanese there but there’s some foreigners sometimes. They might play on more days but I don’t know forsure. Costs about 600Â¥ for entry I believe. They have a high level court and a lower level court.

  3. You can discreetly add 5kg sandbags to your backpack and those 3x walks will feel like 30x and you won’t even need to have a leg day

  4. There should be an active expat yoga community in Tokyo still with classes around your area all day all week, so it would definitely be a more flexible option than volleyball (likely limited to specific evenings) and language wouldn’t be a problem. Examples of schools that I went to back in the day that are still in business are Yoga Jaya and Sun and Moon Yoga.

  5. My wife was an instructor with LAVA, but, with the start of COVID, they require you to wear a mask, even though it’s hot yoga. It’s hard to breathe in there and it’s just awful. I wouldn’t recommend it, until the mask mandate is gone. But, hot yoga is a good workout. You can find cheaper places though.
