  1. Everyone knew the IWC was going to talk about the Osprey Omega so much it would overshadow a great Okada White match

  2. It was a great match but still one of the weakest WK main events in recent memory imo, it was no different than any other one of their bouts.

  3. Definitely a good match but no way it was ever going to beat Ospreay vs Omega. 1, because Ospreay & Omega are undeniably two of the best in-ring athletes of all time & 2, Jay’s reign overall was really boring, he was barely in Japan during it. Was set up to be overshadowed from the start.

  4. Yeah it was absolutely awesome I felt like it was different enough to ospreay and Omega that I could still enjoy it alot without comparing

  5. Is it a good match ? for sure.
Is it a great WK main event ? not really.
besides, this isn’t even their best match together

  6. I remember when the WK main event was a metaphor for the soul of the company. Okada beating Tana and becoming new ace, Kenny and Okada proving there’s future in the new generation, Naito finally completing his destino, Omega and Tana fighting over the predominant style for New Japan. This one didn’t feel remotely close to that. Hell, the last 3 WK main events haven’t been built as good, making it rely solely on in-ring action, and Okada Jay have never had that good of a chemistry.

  7. It’s more or less what Naito v. Tanahashi was at WK11. Solid match that people won’t talk about as much because one match on the card had everyone buzzing.

The match was great, had all of the elements of what makes a proper NJPW main event what it is. Okada doing a somersault senton to the outside was nutty. But yeah, it was still a tough act to follow.

  8. After Ospreay/Omega, it is very hard to top that one, understandably. Not to mention Okada was expected to win 100%, whereas very few predicted Omega would win, and in a fashion that further continues their respective stories in and outside New Japan.

  9. It was a good match. But, I must give credit where credit is due, Cornette was right that any match following Kenny and Will was fucked. I rewatched this match and it was a lot better when I watched it the second time.

  10. Prefer it to the ospreay and Kenny. I think the problem was the predicability and that Jay’s run was kinda bland in the 2nd half of the year due to crowd and they were doing the bare minimum to promote it

  11. I fell alsleep when the event started but I woke up for the main event , it was great match to wake up too

  12. I feel like the match was great but a story-heavy match needs a strong story going in, Okada and White have a great history but White not being in Japan much didn’t give them much of a chance to refresh the feud a bit before doing the match.

  13. It was tough because it never seemed like Jay would actually win, which made the drama hard to buy into. Any other year where it wasn’t about the company anniversary or Inoki and I think the match would have been more memorable or at least received better. It was very well wrestled, but the main event of WK needs an extra bit on top of well wrestled. If Jay found a new gear of fighting spirit and really pushed Okada a bit more, I think it would be five stars

  14. jay’s work in the post match comments was really something else. really loved everything about him he adds so much every time he’s on camera.

  15. Its a shame cuz it’s getting a lot of undeserved hate. The match was great, maybe not amazing, but the story behind it was fantastic. Especially Jay’s after match promo. Fantastic character work

  16. Part of it could be because it was lolOkadaWins. I get it, gaijin don’t win but the vocal folks are ones who don’t understand that
