What has your progress been like for active studying vs immersion?

I had the pleasure of finding out my anki reviews got up to 2800+ over a month break, so I just started taking it very easy on them doing maybe 150 a day for 10 minutes. Then just doing a bunch of immersion via games, anime, social media, whatever I wanted and just prioritizing quantity over quality of study.

I want to know any information anyone has about their own progress between the two. Of course you’d usually do both at the same time, but any trends would be cool to know.

  1. Didn’t we have something like three threads yesterday from people who said they were disappointed with their “immersion” results? Stuff like being unable to put together even simple sentences?

  2. Low quality efforts are likely to lead to low quality results, no matter which method you choose.

  3. who counts anki as active studying? its just flashcards, they are meant to reinforce your studies, not being your studies
