Moving back to Japan with a bi-lingual 10 year old, how difficult would it be for her to integrate back into elementary school?

I live in the UK and wife is Japanese. Recently she’s been expressing her desire to move back to Japan (we both lived there together, moved to the UK when our daughter was 3).

My biggest concern is how my daughter would cope with the move to Japanese elementary. She would be joining 5th Grade (currently 4th grade but 5th by the time the move is complete etc). Is this too late?

She’s a smart kid, loves school. Don’t want to take this for granted though. She actually joined 1st grade in Japan for 5 months when they went for an extended visit. She can read/write hiragana/katakana and recognises some kanji, not a lot. I wouldn’t say she’s *fully* native in Japanese but communicates with friends/family no problem. My concern is how difficult it would be to catch up with Kanji studies or other lessons that aren’t taught here. Are there options for extra lessons to get her up to speed etc? Would the board of education help with this?

Any advice would be great. Thank you
