Is my plan realistic?

I’ve been working remotely for a japanese company. They offered me a relocation to japan. Currently I’m making 8M yen annual (pre tax, incl bonus). I also have a mortgage in my home country. I’m thinking about relocation (around 2024) due to the japan education is much better than my home country (3rd world country), but I’m not sure whether it’s financially make sense or not. My wife currently work remotely with 240K yen monthly (take home pay).

– Is it make sense to move to japan and still able to pay mortgage (200K yen monthly)?
– Since my wife will be working for my home country company, is she elligible work from japan? Or does shee needs to find a new job in japan that offers independent working visa?
– Is the UR housing child friendly (baby makes a lot of noise), since my son will be 1 year old when we relocate?

Thanks in advance!

That would be for you to decide really. 200k is more than a third of what your monthly take home would be, and you’d still need to make rent on wherever you end up living as well as feed & cloth your wife and child.

As your dependent, she would be allowed (with permission from immigration) to work up to 28 hours per week. If she wants to work full time she’d need to find a domestic employer and qualify for a status of residence that allows her to work full time.

It will vary from building to building. I personally have never had any of the noise issues that I see folks complaining about all the time.
