Hello, I’m Turkish and my girlfriend is Japanese. We have a hard time watching movies together. We speak English, but our English is not enough for films with English subtitles. I am looking for Japanese subtitles for Turkish films. But I can not find. For example, I am writing some Turkish films below. What can you do in this situation? I searched for a week and found nothing.

I once needed Spanish subtitles for some movies but I could only find English subtitles for them. I could translate them myself but that would have taken me a long time so I translated them using a program called “subtitle edit”. It has a function that lets you translate subs.

You can get subs in http://www.opensubtitles.org, find English subtitles that match your movie (check with VLC) and then translate them. Not sure how well it will translate English to Japanese though. Maybe my experience below could be useful for you.
I think I kind of over complicated the thing by wanting to translate the subs with deepl. Subtitle edit has a function that lets you copy lines of subs in segments so you can copy-paste that into deepl and then copy-paste deepl’s output back into subtitle edit. At the end of the process I successfully translated the whole thing.
In the process, deepl told me I couldn’t keep translating because I hit the limit, so I opened deepl in TOR browser to hide my IP address so it could let me translate more lmao.
