Wednesday the tuxedo kitten still looking for her new home.

Wednesday is a female kitten about six months old. She’s been vaccinated twice, treated for parasites, neutered and microchipped. She’s been blood tested and unfortunately is positive for FIV. While FIV is an incurable disease many cats afflicted with it live long, healthy lives with proper care. FIV+ and FIV- cats can live together with almost zero risk of spreading the disease provided they’ve all been neutered and don’t have fights that draw blood.

Wednesday was found alone on Halloween night. At the time she weighed only 400 grams, was suffering an upper respiratory infection and blinded with eye gunk. Thankfully, a little tender love and care and she was feeling much better.

Personality wise, she’s a very playful cat and is always full of energy. She wants to be wherever you are. If you walk to another room she’s right behind you. If you close a door she’s on the other side awaiting your return. If you’re sitting on the couch she’s curled up right next to you.

She gets along with other cats but can sometimes be too much for my grumpy old baba and jiji cats. Thankfully our younger cats keeps her busy. There are also plenty of forehead kisses and quiet nap times between the grumpy cats and the whippersnapper.

Usually, we prefer cats go to a home with another cat to avoid loneliness and the behavioral problems that come along with that. But given her FIV+ status adopting as a single cat is acceptable. If she could be adopted to a house with other FIV+ cats where she could have friends that would be amazing.

I am fostering Wednesday through Kawakuji Animal Rescue. Adopting requires, minimally, filling out an application on their website, a phone interview, a home check, proof of pet allowed leases if renting, signing a contract and an adoption fee of 20,000円+transportation fees where applicable.

If you have any questions feel free to ask them here or send me a private message. Photos and a link to the application will be posted in the comments.

  1. I can’t post a picture of my little one T.T but I would love to adopt a friend for her. She lost her brother last year to kidney failure and I’ve been looking to adopt again since I feel she gets lonely. My only question is how far can the rescue move a cat to its new home? I currently live in Northern Hokkaido and am moving to Sapporo in August. Thanks!

  2. I already have a cat (FIV-, and she declared war on every cat we tried to introduce to her, even a sociable kitten), so I can’t take her, but hopefully someone will soon! Best of luck in the search.
