Hi fellow redditors,
I have a question, as the title said what is the likeliness of not get approve from changing residence status?

It’s not a lottery system. If you meet the requirements you’re fine. If you don’t, you’re not.
What documents did you turn in? If your company filled out some forms on your behalf, then I think the odds of not getting it is very very low.

they flip a coin. sometimes they do it outside in front of the immigration office. fun for kids and adults alike.
As long as you meet the requirements, did your paperwork correctly and your sponsor does their part, theoretically there shouldn’t be a problem.
The length of the desired period of validity tho, that’s a coin toss. Sometimes you try for a 3 or 5 year but you get only 1, sometimes the other way around.
If you legitimately meet the requirements for whatever visa you’re swapping to and haven’t been charged with a crime in Japan, you’re good.
However, it’s possible you might get a 1 year instead of a 3 or 5 year because of swapping. Just be aware of that. (Happened to me.)
Sometimes if you’re worried about getting approved, it’s good to check if an immigration law firm would take your case to apply on behalf of you. I have been told because they get paid only half of the fee if they don’t succeed, they will usually only take cases that they expect are successful and they will do a review of your situation first before they apply. I don’t know the cost of that but might be worth to look into.
