I play Monster Hunter in Alaska and the closest player base is Japanese so Japanese players join my quests. Being polite and friendly with stickers is very common, so what kind of hello should I use.
I have not seen もしもし used on Monster Hunter Rise. Usually just よろしくお願いします is used at the start of the hunt.
Yea もしもし is almost exclusively used for phone calls. Using it online would be like saying “Hello? Are you there?” via text in an online game. Very out of place.
Though it can also be used in an sarcastic, joking way too to someone who isn’t responding.
In general you can first listen/read and pay attention to what others say, then repeat. Language is usually first a game of repeat, then you can produce it yourself.
