Shizuoka proposal spots

My girlfriend and I are planning an anniversary trip to Shizuoka mid-March where I am secretly planning on proposing to her.

We both live in Nagoya so neither of us know shizuoka that well. We have 2 days to explore the city and are already planning on going strawberry picking.

I was hoping some of you might know some romantic spots/attractions/restaurants that might serve as a good place to ask her.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  1. I don’t know anything about the area but I really hope your plans go well!!! My early wishes for a long and happy future ✨🌱✨

  2. Chureito Pagoda next to Lake Kawaguchi-ko is the pagoda you see in every promotional picture for Japan. I was there last fall and this weekend and it is beautiful in all weather. At the rope way there is also a lovers bell that has a perfect fuji view.

I was actually just telling my SO it’s a nice engagement spot!

Next to Shizuoka City is Nihondaira in Shimizu, which has a nice Fuji view.

Shizuoka Castle looks nice in the evening but not the most special during the day.

For restaurants, my SO and I went to a restaurant called [GOTCH](https://www.hotpepper.jp/strJ001238967/) table that has separate rooms/very private as you never see your server. They have different courses and I enjoyed the food.

If I think of anything I will let you know!

  3. All the very best to you two!! May your wishes be reality… 😊😊
Restaurants: Epicurean, Joux Do Pom Takajo, Izakaya, Sawayaka

  4. The obvious ones: Nihondaira and Miho Beach in Shizuoka city, Mishima Sky Walk, private onsen in Shuzeni and Ito, Kawazu Falls, Mount Awagatake in Kakegawa.

  5. There’s a viewing platform with an old fashioned windmill overlooking mt fuji in Gotemba! Lovely spot

  6. I’m not sure where in Shizuoka you’re planning to go but Shimoda is sooo nice. It’ll be cold, but the beaches are white sand and blue water. When I was there over the summer we drove quite a way down the coast. A few beautiful spots:
    Minami Izu (in general),
    Irozaki cape/ocean park,
    Minokake rock.

Actually if you search this minami Izu area on Google maps you can scroll along the coast and find TONS of beautiful scenic spots. Shimoda is the best place I’ve ever been in the kanto area over the summer. I’m not sure how weather will be in mid-March, though.

Good luck with the proposal and congrats!

  7. I spent some time in Shizuoka during 2019. I’d recommend this Restaurant for a wonderful experience: 日本料理FUJI @ 3-6 Sakaecho, Aoi Ward, Shizuoka, 420-0859, Japan. The chef was awesome. He had a translator tool that would announce his words in English and was patient with describing the different food to us. I went there for my birthday and they made a special dessert with my name on it. I made a reservation on Facebook I believe. One of the best meals and dining experiences in my life!!

  8. Be honest, how many of you had condescending responses about it not happening planned after reading the first paragraph (before seeing he lives in Japan)?

  9. I don’t know the area well so I can’t really help, but I want to say congratulations! I got engaged in Kyoto a couple years ago and it was magical! Japan has so many beautiful places, I hope you find the perfect spot!

  10. In a garden or somewhere at night with lots of pretty lights? Sending you all the best !!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

  11. I know nothing and have never been but hope there are pictures! Congratulations! Hope she says yes!

  12. I haven’t been to the area but I can offer some advice as some who proposed to their partner in Japan. If you plan on doing it in a popular area GET THERE EARLY! All the places I scouted out online as possible spots were way more crowded than I anticipated once I actually got there. I proposed in Nara and got their basically as the sun was rising and had the whole place to ourselves for about 2 hours and was able to pop the question in peace and in a pretty place.

I wish you the best of luck and have a great trip!

  13. I don’t know but contact a local photographer to capture the moment. They may be able to offer the best recommendations too

  14. Going to second a trip to the top of Nihondaira, especially if you can get a window table in the cafe/restaurant of the Nihondaira Hotel. The view overlooks the Suruga Bay and you can see Fuji in the distance. Expensive but decent food. Best to go during the day (for the view).

  15. We live in Japan too and just did an overnight trip to [Amagiso Ryokan](https://goo.gl/maps/xs6JhkrCHnhSBkZq6) in the [Kawazu Seven Waterfalls ](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6313.html) area.

The early blooming Kawazu cherry trees are just starting and are supposed to last until early to mid March. Not sure if they’ll still be blooming or not when you are there but if towards earlier part of March you may be in luck. If you Google Kawazu Sakura there’s a good article from [Dig Japan ](https://digjapan.travel/en/blog/id=12256) that has a map of the cherry blossoms near Kawazu Station. The ones under the spiral bridge near Kawazu Seven Waterfalls are already in bloom.

This area be a great area to visit during your trip even if your proposal is somewhere else. Amagiso has outdoor onsen pools next to one of the waterfalls that you wear swimsuits at (or reserve the private cave onsen) so you can experience the outdoor onsen area together. If you aren’t staying at the hotel overnight, you can get a day use pass for 2,000 yen. Open [this link ](https://www.asoview.com/channel/ticket/H6SmzwzYG0/ticket0000003481) in Chrome for more on day use of Amagiso’s onsen. Worth it as you can use the outdoor and indoor onsen all day.

    Good luck with your proposal!
