Recommended female reproductive health services & doctors (Tokyo or Yokohama)

To cut a long story short. I’ve recently started bleeding/experiencing periods on average 3 times a month. This started two months ago and started very suddenly. Now, I’m lucky to go two weeks without bleeding, and I bleed for 3-5 days each time.. it’s exhausting and really discouraging.

I’m not sure whether or not my contraception (Nexplanon), a change in hormones, or PCOS, etc, is the cause, but I would like to have blood and hormones properly checked to identify any possible issues.

Does anyone have any recommendations?
I’ve had a pretty crappy experience with OBGYNs here so far, including being told that recurrent infections and periods are just part of being a woman lmao.

I know something is off and I really need a proper once over!

  1. You may also want to try asking in /r/Tokyo.

  2. The contraception induces a change in hormones, and you have to get off of them to clear traces, give your body time to heal, it’s a vicious cycle of bloodwork, and bloody afternoons.

Even if they didn’t affect you at first, they will develop the sudden syndromes with time.

  3. Oak Clinic in Tokyo. While the office staff weren’t the greatest when I went, the excellent doctors and nurses more than made up for them.

  4. I had this issue with Nexplanon. I bled almost constantly until I had it out again. Good luck!

  5. I can only recommend the clinic, not a specific doctor, but I really like Luna Clinic in Yokohama.

  6. Sanno.

It’s a proper hospital and they have everything. Plus an interpreter will come to your appointment, assuming that you need one, and she’s great!

  7. I am not in Tokyo so I can’t give a recommendation, but my advice is to shop around for a doctor, and to go to a university hospital to get someone to take you seriously.

I had a very similar situation, I started bleeding more and more, and it got heavier and heavier.

In my situation, it was to the point that I needed to get iron infusions every 3 days because of excessive bleeding. I could barely go 40 minutes without needing to go to the restroom.

I did hormone therapy, the pill, and some experimental medication, and none helped me. I was losing my ability to live a regular life because of the bleeding/passing out/severe anemia, but most OBGYN wouldn’t do anything if they thought it would affect my future fertility.

They recommended an IUD (which is covered by insurance for this purpose) and it was the worst pain and suffering I had for months. Several doctors said I was just being dramatic until I finally found the right one. They actually understood my issues and gave more advanced treatment options to me (and didn’t talk about me to my spouse like if I was some breeding animal).

I ended up getting a total hysterectomy and it has been fantastic. My anemia is totally gone, I have no pain, and no bleeding. I am 3 years post-op and I just wish that I went through with it sooner.

I hope that you can find a doctor to help you and that you feel better soon. It isn’t Tokyo, but I went to 国際医療福祉大学病院 in Tochigi and the doctors were fantastic.
