Itinerary Check – 1 week in Tokyo in mid May

Looking for advice on my Tokyo plans (29M). This will be my 4th time in Tokyo so I’m keeping it somewhat casual. I’m most curious to hear what day trips from Tokyo you all enjoyed as well as any cool bars or restaurants (already going to check out Aloha Whiskey based on suggestions from other posts). I’d love to hear any early morning suggestions as well since I’m usually up at 5am with jetlag anyway.

May 13: Arrive in Tokyo – get to hotel

May 14: Asakusa and Akihabara – fun to visit Akiba on Sundays when the streets are closed to car traffic

May 15: Sumo match, find a cool restaurant for dinner

May 16: Free for a day trip from Tokyo (maybe Kanagawa or Hitachi Seaside Park?) Is anywhere else particularly beautiful in mid-May?

May 17: Day trip to Nikko – have always wanted to visit ever since seeing photos of the temples and waterfalls

May 18: Shopping day – Tokyo Gundam base, looking for jinbei and traditional tea bowl

May 19: Ikebukuro and Shinjuku in the day. Photos and exploring at night in Shimbashi or Roppongi (looking for the classic neonlit alleys)

May 20: Tokyo Giants game, explore the area around Tokyo Dome, find a cool restaurant or bar for last night

May 21: Fly home

My interests are more anime/otaku focused but I also love whiskey and pretty much all Japanese food so I’m open to trying anything.
