Question about names?

So I don’t know if this has already been answered,

1. How do some people write their names on electronics. Aren’t there many names that are said one way but then have many different kanji? Would you be forced to spell out your name totally differently from how you actually say it so the kanji you are looking for would come up as an option? (Or at least one of the first few options)

2. Does this also make it kind of difficult to guess certain names? Like obviously common ones would be easy to read, but wouldn’t ones that are less common or pronounced totally different from the kanji be totally impossible to guess the name of that person? Of course, there’s always the flipslide of knowing how to spell someone’s name too.

  1. 1. Usually it’s easiest to add the name to your electronic dictionary. Like on your phone or computer input method. But on other devices, for my daughter, I have to type the characters one by one in their common reading in order to find them relatively easy.

    2. Yes, but in most cases where it’s a person that doesn’t know the pronunciation, there is often furigana. And for spelling in kanji, even more common names sometimes has to be spelled out to make sure it’s the correct characters.
