About credit cards

I got to Japan in late November of last year.
At the time, I tried to apply for Rakuten but it go rejected.
After a month, when I got my paycheck I tried again with Rakuten, and it failed again.

My contract with my current employer is until March, but they will sign a new one-year contract with me in the future.
Could this be the reason I got rejected twice?

Right now I’m not really that worried of not having a credit card since I have my debit card to pay for almost everything, but still would like some info on credit cards that are more friendly to foreigners.
Also, since I have two rejected records, will it be even harder for me to apply to other companies’ credit cards?

  1. Rakuten is usually the easiest to get. However most people say to wait six months after a rejection to apply for a credit card again. So the second time you got rejected is likely because of that. If you use Amazon prime a lot you can try for their Mastercard.

  2. Relax dude…

It took me 7 tries in a span of 1.5 years to get approved for my first credit card.
Once you get your first card, you can get approved for almost any card.

And it’s not because of your contract or anything, it’s because you have no credit history in Japan.
No credit history = no trust = no credit card for you.
You just have to keep trying. Wait 3-6 months then apply again.

    Unfortunately, it’s like this now.
Some foreign left Japan with huge unpaid credit card debt and now they just making it harder and harder to get one as foreign.

  3. Dont apply right away after getting rejected. Wait 6-7 months.
