Help with the “の” particle

So I’m doing my Japanese homework and it says “Note that particle の is NOT used for proper nouns, such as Tokyo Station, University of Alabama, and International Student Center.” although in the book that I’m using to learn (Nakama 1) there is the example ” り ゅうがくせいセンターのき む らです” (I am Kimura of the International Student Center) and I’m getting confused as to why this happens in the book but the homework says it isn’t allowed to happen.

What this means is that you would not say 東京の駅、アラバマ州の大学、or りゅうがくせいのセンター; you would just say, for example, 東京駅 or アラバマ大学. You can put の after a proper noun; you just normally wouldn’t put one in the middle of a proper noun.
