considering divorce (permenant resident) looking for a checklist of sorts.

Hi everyone. Been married for over 10 years but it seems like we are not working out anymore.

I have a permenant resident card so I don’t have to worry about that but if I divorced what other things will I need to take care of? Setting up a differenct health insurance/ pension? Do I let the immigration office know? Changing address at local town hall? Does anyone know any sites that kinda have a check-list of sorts.

I don’t want to get in trouble down the road before i realized I forgot something I was supposed to do.

Thanks.

  1. Trying to think of all the things you’ll need to do before you lose your personal translator?

  2. Health insurance / pension: If you work and have your own, then no action required. If not, your partner will likely have you removed so you will have to find something else.

Don’t need to inform immigration if you have PR.

If you move away, just get a ten I todoke from your current city hall and give it to the new city hall you will move to.

If no kids, no post divorce monetary support, then just turn in the rikon todoke. Otherwise you should go to family court to get it sorted out before divorce.
