I’m still learning for N5 level, but when i try to use my computer (ie: online resources) for studying i find myself squinting my eyes and zooming in a lot to identify a character, So far i dont have difficulty remembering them but the font its written in makes it harder.
How do i come about this? Is it possible to change the font to a more readable one in my computer? Note: i use a linux machine

Don’t overthink. Enlarge your fonts as large as necessary. Install a browser specifically for Japanese reading if you must, but there’s objectively zero reasons to torture your eyes when the solution is so simple.

If you use a different distro, it’s still a good list of fonts to have installed. Defaults are often bitmap fonts, basically pixel art. Reading them at small sizes is a bit of an art.
Bumping up the monitor’s configured DPI can help if it’s a size thing.
This this one font that’s relatively common in novels that I absolutely hate. I can read it, but ugh it just feels like it requires an extra 5% of by brain power to read
Some visual novels have very unusual fonts, and it takes time before getting used to them. One VN that comes to mind is Oregairu’s, the 女 and 木 radicals were super weird and I would always do a double take at them.
I also had that font issue at the beginning. That problem just fades away IME, although there are some stylized fonts here and there.
Anyways, I found a font that I liked and also increased font sizes. If you are using flashcards for example, you might find some less grating colours for the background & characters (programmers have some nice colours).
When i went from the font found in textbooks to a more commonly used font irl, i felt like i had to relearn even basic kana again.. some things are similar but i found a lot of things that were drastically different too.. youre not alone..
