Best app to replace abandoned KanjiSenpai? (app with pre-recorded audio & own word list)

Hi,

Could you please recommend me an android app to replace KanjiSenpai?

I need an app that:

* Allows users to add words to own lists for study
* Teaches new kanji ideally showing graphemes
* Tests on different aspects: Kanji reading, English to Japanese, Japanese to English, audio
* Has pre-recorded Japanese audio

I don’t mind paying, but ideally no subscription models (unless they’re well under 1000 JPY/month).

I used kanjisenpai for years and had purchased all audio packages. But I can no longer add any words to my own lists (their server is down) – which makes it unuseable for further study. This app seems to be the only one that allowed users to test various learning aspects separately instead of combining them in one overwhelming flash card. That allowed me to not repeat aspects I already knew (e.g. JPN to ENG), but focus on repeating the ones I still needed to learn (eg. reading of a specific kanji).

Support is sadly dead despite multiple emails since 1 month – the app seems abandoned by the developer. I’ve also lost all my years of input when I uninstalled the app (trying to see whether the server would be available after new instal) and it deleted my backups in the process…

Really frustrated with the situation and hope to find a good reliable alternative.

  1. Kanji study, probably the best kanji app ever made. I think it’s completely worth the price if you need kanji review.
