Present tense and なる

If anyone knows the answer to this please help, it’s driving me nuts. I’ve been studying Japanese for two years and only today realised that I don’t know how to say a sentence with a present tense verb and なる. For example I want to say “the mountains became covered in snow”, but show that this was a gradual process and not immediate. A few conjugation option I though of were:

-山が雪に覆われてなった

-山が雪に覆われてになった

-山が雪に覆われてきた

-山が雪に覆われるになった/なってきた (highly doubt it’s this one)

If anyone know the rule for present tense+なる (if such a conjugation even exists) 教えてください!
