Itinerary/Travel Recommendations: 12 days in Tokyo/Osaka

Hi Everyone

My partner and I are travelling to Japan for the first time in mid April. We were hoping we could get some advice/recommendations for our trip. We are in our late 20’s, no children. Accommodation and flights are already booked

Travel timetable:

Day 1 – Arrive at Narita late afternoon, no plans for that day except to get to our accommodation in Ueno. It is our anniversary that day so any nice dinner recommendations would be great 🙂 Also we are flying back out of Narita, so was looking at getting a Keisei round trip ticket to get to and from Narita. Not sure if this is the best idea???

Day 2 to 4 РIn Tokyo. We are going to go to Disney sea one of the days. Other activities we are potentially keen on Owl Caf̩, Ueno Park, Imperial Palace, Tokyo National Museum, Asahi Beer Hall, Robot restaurant, Akihabara, Sushi Train, Sumo Wrestling, Harajuku, Tokyo Metro Govt Building (view of the city), Shibuya crossing, and Ginza (shopping). We are also keen to see Cherry Blossoms (if they are still around).

Day 5 – Travel from Tokyo to Osaka. Staying here for 5 nights before returning to Tokyo, we are thinking of getting a 7 day JR pass, as this would cover Travelling to and from Osaka (activate the day before we leave for Osaka???). It seems to be worth it with our calculations?

Day 5 to 9 – Use Osaka as a base with JR pass to do day trips to Nara and Kyoto. Possibilities of places/activities are Dontonburi, Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Shinsaibashi. We would love some recommendations/time guide lines for Kyoto especially. We have also heard Universal studios is really good.

Day 10 to 12 – Travel back to Tokyo, this time staying in Shinjuku. We can do some things we didn’t get to do from the earlier part of our trip on this side of the city.

Day 12 – Get to Narita for our evening flight.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks 🙂
