You could do your Nara day trip En route from Osaka to Kyoto on day 7.
– Check out of Osaka lodging and [travel to Nara](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e4107.html?aFROM=2157_2165)
– [Store your luggage at the station in Nara](https://www.narastation.com/lockers-luggage-storage-at-the-nara-stations/)
– Sightsee in Nara
– Collect luggage from station
– [Travel from Nara to Kyoto for lodging checkin](https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2363.html?aFROM=2158_2165)
This way you’ll have more time to sightsee in Kyoto.
