  1. I could be wrong but I think the first time they did it was because January 4th fell on a Saturday so they could have a whole weekend of WK. Now it’s become the standard probably because of money and ticket sales

  2. This one’s 3 nights IIRC. Last night is an inter-promotional between it and NOAH.

  3. Basically money – NJPW makes a lot of its revenue out of tickets and merchandise, and the two nights drew well the year before so they kept with it.

  4. Started with 14 and it made sense then because it was pre pandemic and they needed the time for the matches. Now it doesn’t. They’re not as hot anymore

  5. NJPW used to run 4 Tokyo Dome shows a year, granted this was before the very big popularity boom but I always just see it as them returning to the past days.

The jan 4th show is a big draw so get that money.

  6. Money.
Story line was for the double titles, night 1 had 1 ic title match and 1 world title match, night 2 had the unification match.
Then they just kept with it.

  7. Hate the 2 nights format. They don’t have a big enough roster to justify it and the cards feel watered down with so many multi-man matches
