Hello, This is a guide talking about the some general sound changes in Japanese that I believe to be the most helpful
There’s a huge number of words that are made using two Onyomi characters, And I’ve noticed some patterns that helped me to deal with them better

1- If the first character **ends in く** and the second character starts with **K, The く will turn into っ**, Some examples are 学期, 楽器, 国家, 国会
2- If the first character **ends in つ** and the second character starts with either **K, S (Sh) or T (Tsu)**, The **つ will turn into っ**, Some examples are 発想, 発車, 発揮, 出血
3- If the first character **ends in つ** and the second character **starts with H**, **The つ will turn into っ and the H will turn into P**, Some examples are 発表, 出版
4- If the first character **ends in ん** and the second character **starts with H**, **The H will turn into P**, Some examples 乾杯, 完璧, 新品

I found these rules to be kind of consistent within Two characters Onyomi words, I couldn’t think of many three characters words but the one I could think of didn’t exactly follow this rule 洗濯機 can either be read **せんたくき or せんたっき**

I’m sure there’s a lot of exceptions to these rules under my nose, But I find them generally helpful
Hope you find it helpful too

For me 2 characters Onyomi words are a huge pain when listening, Especially because they all sound similar to one another, I am currently trying to work it out with mnemonics like 観光 (かんこう) is 交換 (こうかん) but backward and 正確 (せいかく) sound like 計画 (けいかく)
I’m just thinking out loud
With the く devoiced, せんたくき and せんたっき should sound more or less the same, right?
せんた + unreleased k + き
It seems only natural.
