Need advice on airport limousine bus

Hi, so I’m moving to Japan in about a month and I’m having some trouble deciding what to do with my luggage and how to get to my destination once I arrive.

So I’m landing at Haneda airport on March 23rd, but my dorm opens for move in on March 27th, so I think luggage delivery isn’t an option.

My school is Hitotsubashi University, near Tachikawa so it’s a bit of a drive away from the airport. And I don’t want to be that foreigner with two big bags of luggage on public transportation.

My current idea is to take the airport limousine bus to get as close to the university as possible, stay in a nearby hotel for a few days, then taxi to the university dorms.

My other idea is to stay at a hotel near Haneda airport for a day or two, then take public transit like the train or bus and get to the dorms. (Follow up question- can I still take the airport limousine bus after leaving the airport and staying at a hotel?

If you could give me any advice I’d really appreciate it, I’m just really intimidated by public transportation system in Japan and I’m not sure how to navigate it with a bunch of bulky luggage.

Unless something has changed since the last time I used it, KuroNeko can hold your baggage for a few days until your selected delivery date. There may be a small extra charge, but it should be doable.

  2. Yeah, look into luggage delivery service holding charges. Often there’s a free amount of time, and then they just charge you a bit after. Typically they don’t have any issues with a few days.

I say, unless both your bags are huge, just ship one. I’ve dragged around one rather large, but still compact suitcase around just fine. I do it for business trips too. Just try to push it into corners, stand rather than sit on crowded trains, etc..
