Study Abroad is over and I’m really depressed about it

I definitely plan to come back ASAP, I loved studying and exploring this country for the second time. However, does anyone know how to combat the blues of having to head back to their home country?

Also! I’m in Tokyo for 2 weeks and I’d like to socialize and meet people around their 20s :))) pls let me know if you’d like to hang! I’d love to build connections! (I’d like to note I’m in my early 20s and had a hard time making friends while studying so I’d like to try to with my last two weeks here).

  1. Look at it as a new adventure! You are now armed with your experience from your time abroad. Use it! You have a fresh start to apply yourself and meet your goals. Seize the day, do the dew, etc

  2. Honestly I was pretty depressed when mine ended. Back home I was a commuter student and had basically no friends at school in college since after classes I went home, so I never really had the “college experience” while I was attending my home university. But during the year I was a student here, I lived in a dorm and had the full deal. I also made a bunch of really good friends, many of whom I still speak with regularly/am still very close with years later. All that left me pretty miserable going back; if I’ve ever been through any kind of clinical depression in my life it was the three or so months after I returned. It sucked, because I felt like I was losing all my friends to go back to a boring and empty feeling life back home.

Time knocked the funk off, plus I’d become a lot more social while I was here so that helped me open up a bit back there as well. I came back here about a year after I graduated and have been here ever since.

  3. Yo…..

Don’t meet strangers from the internet in real life.

    Make friends naturally.

    Much safer!

  4. Fight tooth and nail to secure the life you want. A life where you have a lucrative career in Japan perhaps. Finish school strong, get an internship if possible, study Japanese, etc. to make sure this becomes a reality for you. Good luck
