Where to get medical full body checkup and average cost?

I don’t have much knowledge in medical stuffs as well as Japan
I arrived just couple months ago and thought I should get my full body checked in case there is something wrong. Preferably place around Tokyo and maybe English results (but no English also fine) thank you.

  1. you want to call to any nearby hospital and ask for 健康診断. depending on your insurance and options you want, it may cost anywhere from 2000 to 15000+ yen. i think it’s cheaper with self paid NHI vs company offered insurance, or maybe depends on the area.

anyway the check usually includes blood work, xray, some sonography, ear/eye check, urine/stool test and so on. you can add/remove whatever stuff you want.

with bigger companies the employer usually schedules these yearly for everyone.

  2. What you’re looking for is called a “ningen doc” aka 人間ドック.

It’s a more comprehensive series of tests to the normal pre-employment/yearly health check.

You might have to pay out of pocket for it however.

  3. You can see if your city/town government has subsidies for medical checks. My town has a subsidy where you can get a cancer screening and a health check for only ¥1000 each.

Also, if you’re employed full time your employer has to provide you with an annual health check so you can also wait until that happens.
