Has anyone ever been to Hashira-jima, Hiroshima?

My partner and I are planning on a trip in April. We stumbled upon this island while zooming around in Maps in Hiroshima for things to do. It feels like a super quaint island, and [this “hotel”](https://setouchi-taishinkan.com/) in particular feels like a unique mom & pop shop. According to the website, you can go fishing and paddleboarding!

Has anyone ever been to this island before? Was it tough to get to?

**Update: sorry I typo’d 😭 – yes it’s Hashiri island lol **

  1. For more obscure places like this I usually just search on YouTube and see if I can find any Japanese vlogs visiting the place

    For example: https://youtu.be/Ib96bBfA2I4

Looks like that person took a ferry from Iwakuni.

  2. Hashirajima (柱島)or Hashirijima(走島)? They’re both near Hiroshima – the hotel you’ve found is in Hashirijima! I’ve not been there, but just make sure you’re researching the right place if you do end up going there, haha.

  3. Just a quick heads up, this is on Hashir**i**-jima, not Hashir**a**-jima. It isn’t particularly close to Hiroshima. It’s accessible from just south of Fukuyama.

And other than that, it kind of looks like this place might be “for Japanese only” type of establishment. Not just in language, but in clients they want staying there. So I’d definitely ask, in Japanese, if they’re okay with non-Japanese tourists.
