What’s a more useful business degree for Japan?

I just received my associates in Business Administration and continuing my studies in an American University majoring in International Business, but it requires a double major meaning I need to choose a 2nd major. I’m interested in either Management Information Systems (MIS) or Marketing and I’m curious on which one would be more desirable for someone planning to move to Japan in a couple years? I’m a veteran and I was stationed in Japan for only a year during my last year in, I loved every single thing about the country and would love to move back and stay longer.

Also, my Japanese ability I would consider a lot higher than survival but by no means fluent. My roommate is Japanese and I maintain it with him and I watch a lot of Japanese YouTube and do at least an hour a day of active study, so I’m confident in my language routine. I’m planning to pass N1 after I receive my BA. Not just for the sake of moving but it’s always been my dream to become trilingual (I’m fluent in English and Tagalog)

I’d vote for MIS by a country mile.

  2. Marketing is really only beneficial if you:

    – Can get an inter-company transfer from the US to an international company with offices in Japan

    OR

    – Have native-level fluency. Think about what goes into marketing. Someone who doesn’t have the same grasp of a language like a native speaker wouldn’t be able to properly communicate with consumers. Think about English and all the slang and speech patterns you see in ad copy, commercials, etc.
