How to contact Japan Post from overseas

Sent an international parcel back to my hometown but it hasn’t moved in nearly two months and is still in the sorting office in Japan apparently according to online tracking. Trying to reach out to Japan Post but their phone numbers don’t work if you’re overseas (currently in another country) anyone had any success trying to contact them overseas before?

  1. If it was sent by surface mail (which it sounds like it was since those packages are usually sent out of Kanagawa) then the tracking will not be updated until it arrives in your country and this can take a while since that’s the long part of the journey. Also if it was sent by surface mail then the timescale is probably pretty normal (since it can take around 3 months to arrive).
That sounds like the most likely reason but Japan Post should be able to confirm that! Have you tried calling the actual post office you sent it from (if you remember where it is)? If I ever have an issue with a package usually I go to the post office I sent it from and they’re usually quite helpful.

  2. You can call the main JP office and have them redirect you to the correct dept, annoying but I’ve done it in the past when I had to while overseas.
