Sorry if this falls into the category of translation request, but I’ve kind of exhausted my resources on identifying this Kanji short of just hoping it comes up in learning at some point in my life.
My grandfather took a trip to Japan before I was born. I’ve had this haori since I was a boy but I’ve still not been able to identify the kanji.
I’ve tried to use drawing and look up by radicals but I’ve had no luck.
The top looks like king to me, then either mouth or flag in the middle but the bottom part is too stylized and heavy weight for me to really make out. I’ve seen similar haori at festivals that have 祭 on the back but this is definitely not matsuri.
