How does the manga system work in japan?

I want to understand how the manga runs through and make money from where it belongs. Like first thing is the chapters system, here we get scanned chapters of numerous manga every week in soft copy, so how does it work in japan? Do the people buy 10-15 pages ie. single chapter every week? Also how does the raws system work, like how do we get the Japanese raw scans one or two days before the official release? One last thing is that are the people really buying that stuff when it’s available on various websites, ik the feeling of holding a volume in hand but still they’re very expensive where i live.
So please clear my doubts and arigatoo gozaimass

  1. The manga artist submits a story for publication to one of the many publishers. If it sells well, they’ll adopt it as a regular series.

The manga is usually published in a large book, similar to a telephone book, which has several series within it. These are pretty cheap. A manga can be printed weekly or monthly. Usually a monthly series has more pages.

The pages that an artist submits are mostly digital now, so after submission, they’ll be printed on paper, or uploaded to be downloaded as a subscription (I believe).

Every so often, a set of chapters will be published in a novel-like softcover book. These volumes are about 7-10 USD, depending on the size of the book and series.

  2. Early Japanese raw scans are coming from two different routes. There are stores that sell weekly manga magazines earlier than the official release day. This route is where those raw scans mostly come from. Sometimes those scans are leaked by workers of printing or shipping company. Either way it’s illegal but it seems publishers haven’t found a way to stop it.

    Edit: grammar and typo
