Anyone got experience taking a Japanese toilet bank to their home country?

Hello. Like any normal foreigner I am floored by the heavenly Japanese toilets. I intend to buy one here and try to take it back home and install it.
I know I’ll have to check different settings like voltage etc. Are there any other things to look out for? Which brand would you suggest? Toto? Any tips? Thank you in advance.

Edit: Title was supposed to say “back”. There seems to be no Japanese toilets sold in my country…. Hence my quest.

  1. Where? Probably easier to buy it there, especially if you’re planning to buy an entire toilet and not just the seat. Are you good at plumbing?

  2. Can’t you just buy or order one in your home country? Seems like it’d be more convenient and cheaper. Japan isn’t the place that uses them. Not sure where your home country is, but I know people who got them installed in the US.

  3. Whatever you do, make sure to ground them there and ensure safety. You don’t want to be electrocuted after a poop.

  4. Maybe you can buy it off your nearest Amazon. I know, Amazon Europe has them (e.g. Toto brand) in 230V. If you’re lucky, they deliver to wherever you are. You do need an electric socket near the toilet, through. In some countries, sockets near toilets have special regulations, so you might need an electrician.

  5. FWIW, I know someone that bought a bidet and brought it back to the UK, he said it worked great. Never saw it in action myself.

  6. no experience but I know how things work. all you need is to be able to connect the water intake and plug the thing in. might need some adapter stuff from the hardware store but probably nothing major or expensive. US runs on 120V, 60Hz, japan runs on 100V, 50 or 60Hz….but electronic stuff runs on lower voltage DC and will normally have a transformer built into it so 99% of the time it will run in both countries without issue.

the kind of things that have problems are things with AC motors, like refrigerators.
