Using an Internet Router from Thailand in Japan

I have just moved to a new apartment in Japan and I plan on bring an internet router that I used back in Thailand to Japan. I was wondering will it work?

My new room in Japan has a lan port in the wall, which means its just plug and go?

I’m sure I will have to configure some things in the Internet router, any idea on how to do that? I’m sure the routers bought in Japan will have to be configured as well, or its really just plug and go?

  1. The router should work fine (if Thai plugs and voltage are the same as Japanese). You won’t be able to connect to the internet without entering into a contract and paying for it with an ISP though, and then installing a home gateway provided by them. If you home comes with an ISP as part of the rent, you’ll have to check if you need login details and set them up via the router admin panel, which is usually 192.168.1.1
