Relocating to Tokyo and Osaka

Hey guys!! I’m 24, F, Currently living in Tsukuba and I’m thinking of relocating to Tokyo when my lease finishes in June. Thinking of staying in Tokyo for three months and then relocate to Osaka. The thing is I am graduating from Tsukuba Uni in September and I genuinely can’t wait to leave before that. Since the pandemic and the fact that it feels really lonely, and depressing here and my mental health has been declining massively. The thing is I am not sure if things will be better in Tokyo, but I want to try staying there for a few months, yet I am kinda excited about Osaka as I have been there three times last year and I feel like it’s more open and social life seems pretty good there. One more thing is I am studying International Relations and just thinking about employment here gives me anxiety as I feel like English teaching seems to be the only trajectory out here, yet I am looking for opportunities abroad too in the gulf and SE Asia but no luck so far. If you have any advice or tips on which areas to relocate to in or around Tokyo and Osaka, and jobs or websites that have opportunities including but not limited to teaching, please let me know.

  1. I’m sure your university has a career center with all sorts of pertinent information. They literally have a stake in you landing a good job after graduation. As you know well, your Japanese fluency is going to open doors or block you, depending on your level. Daijob and CareerCross are two of the jobsites for bilingual jobseekers. Google is your friend. You need to start a full blown job search immediately. If you can afford it, many companies, large and small, offer internships for students and new grads, which can be seen as working interviews. The drawback is that they tend pay to little or nothing.
