Comments on Biglobe as an ISP

Our contract with AU Hikari is up for renewal in a couple of months and, looking at changing to Biglobe which seems about half the price of staying with AU Hikari for another 2 years. Anyone have any comments about Biglobe as a provider? I don’t need English support or anything like that.

  1. I’ve been using Biglobe for years. I have no complaints. I actually signed up for them *through* AU, so I don’t know if the performance would be any different in your case. About ¥4000-5000 a month (we used to have a discount because we had a phone contract with them, but have moved to UQ so IDK if it’s still active.)

  2. Had them for years, never had an issue other than it felt expensive but I didn’t have much else to compare it to.

  3. We’ve been with Biglobe on hikkari for about 20 years now. No complaints, and no interruptions that I’d be aware of. But I have no one to compare it to, and we never needed support, so YMMV. It’s just there and works (Nagoya).

  4. I had Biglobe when I signed up with B-flets the first time. IIRC they had some proprietary video content (not IPTV, but streaming) when they were promoting their ipv6 compatibility.

  5. I used them for a number of years. They’re fine, but they got really slow for me so when I moved I changed ISPs. Some days watching YouTube was difficult.
