Using a personal router with Flet’s Hikari Cross

Hi all,

Looking at finally upgrading my internet situation and noticed that I might (yet to be 100% confirmed from apartment building hurdles) be able to get Flet’s Hikari Cross.

Not sure if you can use your own router with that or not, or if it is better to get their router and perhaps just chain my own WiFi router to that to manage my internal apartment network.

Anyone have any experience or recommendations based on their own experiences?

  1. You’ll need their ONU. After that I don’t think they even provide a router, I think you have to use your own. Maybe they rent one in my vague memory, but routers are cheap as hell. Renting one would be a ripoff probably.

  2. I set this up at a friend’s house.
I myself have AU Hikari 10g, but the setup for Hikari Cross was similar.

You can use your own router, but you have to use their ONU.
My friend opted for NTT’s router, the XG-100NE router.

Don’t forget to make sure you use 10Gb Ethernet cables.

  3. You can use your own router, but you better buy a domestic one with ipoe/ipv6 support, as there’s only one consumer ISP offering pppoe over 10g flets.
