1st time japan traveler

I am going to japan for 20 days in Japan in late September early November, I plan to fly to Tokyo for the first 7 days then do yokohoma for a day, Hakone and Fuji for a day, Osaka and Kyoto for 3 days each then I go to Kanazawa for 2 days before I head back to Tokyo to Cath my plane home. I have been reading alot and plan to buy the Japanese rail pass aswell as the suica card, do any experienced travellers have advice for me??
