I’m planning on going to Japan April 8th – April 22nd. I have a rough itinerary and wanted some input on it as well as suggestions for a day that I sort of in the middle that I’m not sure what to do with.
* 8th – 9th: Land in Haneda around 2:30, get on the bullet train to Himeji to check in, Stay in Himeji, possibly meet up with a friend. See Kokoen and possibly Himeji Castle (I might plan to do the castle on Monday when it may be less crowded not sure if that would make a difference)
*I known this seems odd but someone I know will be in Japan at the same time for work and staying around the Himeji area, they are only possibly free on Sundays so I’m trying to slightly schedule around that*
* 10th – 11th: Check out of Himeji, possibly see castle, travel to ???. This is the spot where I’m not sure what to put, I was thinking maybe Okayama but not sure
* 12th – 14th: Check out of ???, travel to Onomichi. Stay a night in Onomichi to get some time to see the city and temples in the area. Start the Shimanami Kaido route on the morning of the 13th. Stay on Omishima Island. Continue/Finish route in Imabari on the 14th. Travel to Hiroshima.
* 15th – 17th: Stay in Hiroshima, see the museum and other areas. Go to Miyajima. Leave on the 17th and head back to Tokyo
* 18th – 22nd: Stay and explore Tokyo until I leave. (I’m maybe considering taking a day here to either check out a small part of the Nakasendo Trail or visit the 5 lakes area again, I’ve been once before years ago. But not sure if that makes sense given the timeframe.)
So I’m looking for thoughts on this itinerary but also suggestions as to where would be a good place to check out for a day in the space of the 10th-11th. Thanks in advance.
