  1. It’ll be interesting to see if they’re billed as NJPW talent and/or United Empire members, or just an internationally-known tag team.

I know they were billed as the former during the lead-up to Forbidden Door, but unless this is going to tie into the Omega/Ospreay story I could see it going either way.

  2. Really hoping they aren’t there just to pad the numbers, but it’ll be exciting until it’s not at least

  3. Just to give everyone full context to this if you haven’t seen Dynamite last week: the winners of this Battle Royal will earn a spot against The Gunn Club and The Acclaimed in a Fatal-4-Way Match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Revolution! The fourth spot will go to the winners of a second, Casino Battle Royal, the week after this! (Let’s go FTR!) Which means, if Fletcher and Davis win the gold, they’ll be taking it into the New Japan Cup! As for The Elite, they’ll likely be defending their Trios Titles against House Of Black at Revolution!

Just a little piece of trivia: winning a Tag Team Battle Royal to get an AEW World Tag Team Title shot at Revolution has been a yearly tradition for them. In 2020, The Young Bucks won one to face Kenny Omega & Hangman, in 2021, The Inner Circle’s Chris Jericho & MJF were victorious to challenge The Bucks, and last year saw the stakes raised to this new format, which gave us Jurassic Express Vs. Young Bucks Vs. ReDragon.

It would’ve remained a Triple Threat again this year, but The Acclaimed are cashing in their rematch clause, after falling to The Firm’s Ass Boys last week on Dynamite’s Championship Fight Night. Bowens even temped fate by saying, “fly them in from The Forbidden Door, it doesn’t matter.” And here we are folks! Aussie Open’s first Tag Team Booking of 2023!!!
